COCA votes to join Prompt Payment Ontario

"Prompt payment has been a priority at COCA since 2010 when we agreed to join the efforts of the National Trade Contractors Coalition of Canada (NTCCC) to get results for Ontario contractors" said COCA Chair Don Gosen. "Over the last four years Prompt Payment has been front and centre at COCA and we're

proud of everything we've done to help move the yardstick down the field."

PPO is made up of a diverse group of members including trade associations, labour union and the residential construction sectors, and was created with the mandate to promote the passage of prompt payment legislation in Ontario.

"I couldn't be more pleased that COCA's Board is committed to continuing our efforts on the Prompt Payment file" said COCA President Ian Cunningham, in a press statement. "We're confident that prompt payment legislation will happen in Ontario, it's only a matter of when."

Prompt payment legislation looks to ensure that contractors receive payment in a timely way once work has been satisfactorily completed.

If passed, Ontario would be the first jurisdiction in Canada to adopt prompt payment.
