Delay of pipeline leaves Northwest Territories economy in lurch
Regulatory process continues to delay the construction of a natural gas pipeline connecting the Mackenzie Delta and southern markets. The president of Northwind Industries, an oilfield service and construction company, invested $5 million to bring in a whole yard full of heavy equipment in hopes of cashing in on construction of the proposed $16-billion project. The delay is stalling the local economy and leaving construction companies in a lurch.
