TORONTO — Toronto-based Plan Group Inc. announced it has achieved Certificate of Recognition (COR) safety certification in the province of Ontario.
The Plan Group announcement issued Jan. 16 indicates, "The COR program, administered in Ontario by the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA), is quickly becoming the standard companies need to reach in order to bid on certain public- and private-sector construction projects.
"By achieving COR, Plan Group is able to demonstrate to its clients that its health and safety management system has been developed, implemented and evaluated on an annual basis through comprehensive internal and external audits."
The audit criteria used by COR are recognized by industries throughout Canada, the release explains.
"Audits are very thorough and typically include interviews, documentation review and observation techniques to evaluate how well the employer is able to identify, assess and control risks to workers," it reads.
The COR website explains that representatives from senior management and one designated full-time permanent employee must take prescribed training that is offered by the IHSA.
Once the training is complete, the employer is required to conduct an internal audit of their firm's health and safety management system using IHSA's COR Audit Tool.
Plan Group achieved its first COR certification in Nova Scotia in 2015.
Plan Group is a national multi-trade construction services provider.
