Toronto worker crushed, dies at Kingston Road-area build site
TORONTO—A Toronto construction worker was pronounced dead shortly upon his arrival at an area hospital after a construction wall fell on him at a worksite in the area of Pine Crescent and Maclean Avenue in the city Monday morning.
A Toronto Police spokesperson indicated that the victim was pinned under what was first termed a retaining wall but was later corrected to be the wall of a staircase. The man, reported to be in his 40s, was working on a residential construction build. Toronto Police received a call at 8:30 a.m. and soon Toronto fire and police reached the scene and joined in the attempts of his co-workers to extricate him. He was soon rushed to hospital by emergency crews where he was pronounced dead.
The site of the incident is in the Kingston Road area north of The Beach.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
