AJAX, ONT. — Medallion Corporation held a topping-off ceremony in Ajax, Ont. last month for what is being touted as Durham Region’s first mixed-use development of its calibre and size.
The Vision development will feature two rental towers and the new Pay Bayly Square, named after a former Ajax mayor. The site will be complemented by a new civic centre, a planned venue for cultural celebrations and a public skating rink. The rink becomes a reflective pool in the summer.
Building A recently reached its full 25 storeys and is expected to be ready for occupancy in the fall. The tower will feature 272 rental residential units in one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom configurations. The project is located at the corner of Harwood Avenue and Bayly Street in downtown Ajax. Construction of the next building of the first phase is expected to start upon the completion of Building A. Additional building amenities include a theatre room, private dining space, games room, fitness room and outdoor rooftop terrace.
Architects for the project are Page & Steele/IBI Group. Oakville-based Lukas Design Interiors was assigned interior design duties.
"This unprecedented development will act as the gateway to downtown Ajax. Our vision of an urban, pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use vibrant downtown will soon be a reality," said Mayor Steve Parish.
