OTTAWA — BuildForce Canada recently announced some big changes.
Executive director Rosemary Sparks is retiring effective Aug. 31 and Bill Ferreira will be taking over the reins beginning Aug. 8.
"Over her impressive 11 years with BuildForce, Rosemary has helped shape BuildForce into the respected organization that it is today," states a release issued by the organization.
"We would like to thank Rosemary for her commitment to BuildForce as well as wish her all the best as she prepares for this next chapter in her life."
For the last nine years, Ferreira has been the vice-president of government relations and public affairs with the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). Prior to that, he served in different portfolios in the federal government, worked in a private consulting firm and was director of government affairs for the Forest Products Association of Canada.
In June, Christina Taylor of Irving Oil was named as the new board chair, replacing John Schubert of the CCA after the completion of his two-year term.
Taylor is the executive director of Career Link Atlantic and senior manager of workforce development for Irving Oil. She brings over 20 years of experience in industrial relations and administrative law to the table.
