CCA 95th: Federal commitments to infrastructure through Gas Tax Fund

Though the amount of the new long-term infrastructure plan is unknown, there are already federal infrastructure commitments.

The Gas Tax Fund and full municipal GST rebate transfers will cotinue, respresenting $3.1 billion said Canadian Construction Association (CCA) prseident Michael Atkinson at the 95th annual conference.

"I believe the Gas Tax Fund will be less restrictive than the current plan," he said.

Lobbying efforts have gone a long way in getting infrastructure highlighted going into the budget.

"I think the industry and stakeholder lobby have absolutely succeeded putting infrastructure number 1 on radar screen of ministry of fianance going into a budget," he said.

The replacement to the Building Canada Plan, which expires in March 2014, is expected in the next month.
