The province is investing $2 million in the Tenaris Algoma Tubes' modernization project through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

The investment has allowed Tenaris to re-open their plant, following a temporary suspension of operations in 2016, securing 130 local jobs, states a release.

Tenaris, which manufactures seamless steel pipes for Canada's oil and gas industry, suspended operations in February 2016 due to a downturn in the oil and gas market. Strong demand and new orders allowed Tenaris to resume operations in November 2016, the release reports.
