NEW YORK

A crane accident at a Donald Trump hotel-condominium tower being built in Manhattan’s trendy SoHo neighbourhood killed a worker early this week and injured two other people, authorities said.

The worker died about 2 p.m. Monday at the Trump SoHo complex, police said. One of two other workers injured in the accident was saved by a safety net that extends outward from the 40th floor of the building.

The crane was about 40 storeys up and the accident caused one floor to collapse into another, officials said. The crane “‘seemed to be going at breakneck speed — up and down, up and down,” a witness said.
