GREENWOOD, Ind.

A concrete-block wall collapsed as construction workers were building it last Thursday in suburban Indianapolis, killing three of them, police said. Two workers were hurt.

Police Chief Joseph Pitcher said the collapse may have been weather-related, but investigators weren’t sure.

A thunderstorm passed through the area after 4 p.m., about the same time the wall fell.

“We had a pretty rough storm blow through at that time, so common sense would tell us it was probably related to the storm, but I’m not a structural engineer,” said Greenwood Fire Department Lt. Tom Kite.

The two workers who were hurt were taken to an Indianapolis hospital. Kite said the men were “pretty seriously injured.”
