FERGUS, ONT. — Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Groves Memorial Community Hospital (GMCH) have announced that EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare has been selected as the preferred proponent to design, build and finance a new hospital development project in Centre Wellington, Ont.
The request for proposals (RFP) process began in June 2016 with three teams — GMCH Partnership, EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare and PCL Constructors Canada — submitting bids.
The EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare team includes EllisDon Capital Inc. as developer, Tillman Ruth Robinson as architect, The Mitchell Partnership, WalterFedy Partnership and Hastings and Aziz as engineering teams, EllisDon Design Build Inc. for construction and EllisDon Capital Inc. as financial advisor, a media statement released May 1 indicates.
IO and GMCH will now work to finalize contract details with EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare. The project is expected to reach financial close in mid-2017. The new hospital will be built in Aboyne, Ont., between Elora and Fergus, and replace the existing GMCH in Fergus. The project is expected to be completed in late 2019. Details of the new GMCH project include:
a replacement hospital built on a greenfield site with more space for emergency, ambulatory, diagnostic and inpatient services;
37 of the 45 beds in private single patient rooms with a dedicated washroom, shower and large windows;
the remaining eight beds in two-bed rooms each with a private washroom;
additional isolation facilities to enhance the hospital's ability to respond to a pandemic or disease outbreak; and
an onsite helipad.
