MISSISSAUGA — Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx have shortlisted three teams to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Hurontario Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.

The three teams were selected based on the criteria identified in a Request for Qualifications process that began in October 2016, indicates a media statement released June 6.

The shortlisted teams and their main members are:

Hurontario Light Rail Connection Partners: Cintra, Colas, Acciona, Acciona Infrastructure Canada, Ferrovial Agroman Canada Inc., DPM Energy, LURA Consulting, Arup Canada Inc., SENER, Dillon Consulting, DTAH, Grimshaw, RATP Dev Canada and Colas Rail.

Mobilinx: Astaldi, John Laing, Hitachi-Ansaldo, Transdev, Amico Concessions, Hitachi, Amico, Bot, IBI, Morrison Hershfield and Arcadis.

Trillium Transit Partners: Kiewit Meridiam, Keolis, Peter Kiewit Sons, Bird, Mass Electric, Black and MacDonald, Coco Paving, Stantec and STV.

The project includes 20 kilometres of new dedicated rapid transit between the Port Credit GO Station in Mississauga to the Gateway Terminal at Steeles Avenue in Brampton. There will be 22 surface stops with connections to GO Transit's Milton and Lakeshore West rail lines, Mississauga MiWay, Brampton Transit and the Mississauga Transitway BRT.

A maintenance and storage facility for the light rail vehicles at Highway 407 will also be built. Construction is anticipated to start in 2018, with an estimated in-service date in 2022. The Hurontario LRT project is being delivered using IO's Alternative Financing and Procurement delivery model.
