Raboud retires from Bird Construction

Raboud graduated with a civil engineering degree from the University of Alberta where he achieved the Association of Professional Engineers Gold Medal award for top marks in his graduating class, while concurrently enrolled in the university's MBA program, states a media release issued by Bird Construction.

After working for 16 months as an engineer-in-training with the estimating department at Bird, Raboud left to acquire his Masters of Civil Engineering at the University of Washington, returning to Bird in 1987.

He has worked his way through many roles including field engineer, estimator, project co-ordinator, project manager, district manager, president and chief operating officer to chief executive officer, and his most recent position as vice-chair.

According to the release, Raboud has been instrumental in many of Bird's successes.

This includes reopening the Vancouver district in 1990 under difficult economic conditions, spearheading the company's foray into the public-private partnership market in the mid-2000s and being the driving force behind Bird's three acquisitions over the past decade.

Raboud will continue to contribute to the business by remaining a member of the board of directors.
