The deputy state fire marshal says two North Carolina contractors as well as one former and two current employees of the Chicago company that runs Warrior Dash races are expected to turn themselves in to face 13 misdemeanour counts of negligent injury. Brant Thompson blames the incident on shoddy construction and failure to follow proper procedures.

More than a dozen people were hospitalized after the October collapse.

Red Frog Events spokeswoman Lauren King said the company worked closely with investigators and didn't find anything that would warrant criminal charges.

One contractor didn't immediately respond to a phone message. Nobody answered a possible listing for the other contractor's company.
