MONTREAL — Developer and constructor Broccolini announced it has acquired the last parcel of land available for redevelopment in the vicinity of Square-Victoria, in Montreal’s International District.
Broccolini has announced it will build a residential real estate project on property it recently acquired at 620 and 630 Saint-Jacques Street in downtown Montreal.

The acquisition of this plot, located at 630 Saint-Jacques St., was accomplished in the wake of Broccolini's acquisition of the adjacent building located at 620 Saint-Jacques St., noted the Broccolini media statement issued earlier this month.

The company said it plans to erect a residential real estate project on this nearly 12,000 square feet of land. Details regarding the project will be revealed in the coming weeks, said Broccolini.

The location provides direct access to the Square-Victoria metro station and offers views over Montreal.

On one side, the project will overlook the green space of Square-Victoria which surrounds the metro entrance, an installation created by Hector Guimard and presented to the City of Montreal in 1967.

The other facade will offer views over the activities of the Old Port, including Habitat 67 and Silo No. 5.

Broccolini said the facade of the original building, dating back to 1905, on the corner of Saint-Jacques and Gauvin streets, will be preserved and integrated into the architectural concept.

Other large-scale projects being built by Broccolini in Montreal include the 50-storey L'Avenue project, located opposite the Bell Centre, and the new Maison de Radio-Canada that will be built on the corner of Rene-Levesque Boulevard and Papineau Street.

Construction of the new media complex will begin this fall and its inauguration is slated for 2020.
